Gift Idea: Baby Survival Kit

Last week, one of my lovely friends had an extremely healthy and gorgeous baby boy. All of us girls put in to buy her something big at the baby shower so when it came to visiting her in hospital I just wanted to take in something small. I bought a beautiful book for her handsome new man, but felt a bit rude not taking something in for the exhausted mum and dad.
The inspiration behind this gift was the new beginnings kit that I made a friend not long ago, you can see that here. This gift was extremely well received so I made another two for some ladies at work going off on maternity leave.
If you would like a printable copy of what’s included in the kit please let me know.

Gift Idea: Going Away Gift

One of my girlfriends recently moved interstate to be with her long distance boyfriend and she was a bit nervous about the move. So I wanted to give her something small to take with her to a) remind her that someone cares enough about her to make her a gift and b) to remind her of the exciting new adventure she is embarking on!

I saw this frame and it instantly reminded me of her, I then decided to put a picture of Victoria on the left with a heart for Melbourne as that is where she is from and then South Australia on the right with a heart for Adelaide as that is where she moved to. In the middle I put a picture of the couple together.

Giftsporation: A cute gift idea for someone who likes to bake/cook

It is no secret I am an avid Pinterest lover, I spend more time than I care to admit browsing all the fantastic ideas and making note of all of the things I need to try/do/create. About a month ago I pinned this gift idea as I have a lot of friends starting to buy their first homes and thought it would be something thoughtful I could easily create for them.

Since I pinned it, it has had 431 repins and 51 likes and that has gone up twice since I began typing this. So I thought I would continue to share it through all avenues possible. When I began this blog post I tried to track down the creator of this gift to give them some credit, but I just kept getting led to different Pinterest boards. Anyway, enjoy!

Going Away Gift Idea: New Beginnings Kit

One of my dear friends is moving interstate and I wanted to make her something that she could take with her that would ease her nerves and remind her that she is never alone.

After thinking about it for a few weeks, I came up with a ‘New Beginnings Kit’. I am really happy with how it turned out and her reaction as well as everyone else’s who saw it was more than I could have hoped for. I think this is quite a versatile gift and something I will definitely be making again. It could be made for many different purposes, it could be turned into a ‘Get Well Kit’ for someone recovering from an illness. It could also be a ‘Happiness Kit’ for someone who needs a pick me up.

To read what is in the kit and why, click on the photo and it should be clearer. Please be aware there is an error, it should say ‘String- to tie things together when everything falls apart’ It is missing the word when.

Gift Idea: Scrabble Art

I created this gift for my Nanna. It combines her two favourite things; Scrabble and her grandkids. When I gave it to her she instantly rearranged the photos on her wall to make space for it. She has since told me, that it is quite the talking point when she has guests over (which is suprisingly often for someone her age).

To make this masterpiece I downloaded the Scrabble letter template from here. I then wrote down all of my Nanna’s grandkids names and spent a bit of time rearranging them so they all linked together like a real Scrabble game. Once that was finished I printed two copies of it and cut one up and placed it on top with double sided tape to give it a 3D look.

I would be more than happy to help anyone who is interested create one, just send me the list of names you want on it or message you would like written in it.

Giftsporation: Printable Affirmation Cards

Firstly, I must confess: I am a Pinterest addict. I love Pinterest, it provides me with ideas for EVERYTHING. I use it for work, gifts, exercise, recipes.. pretty much anything important in my life. That is where I came across this amazing gift. Such a thoughtful present, you also don’t have to recreate it as the blog offers free printables. I think I’ve just discovered my new favourite blog.

Engagement Gift Idea: Famous Couples

This is probably one of my favourite gift creations. Truth be told I was invited to an engagement party where I didn’t know the couple all that well and didn’t want to spend too much money on a gift. I spent a bit of time researching gifts and came across a few things similar to this on Etsy for $30. I then gave it a go myself and this was the end result! I have since made it for another couple and shared the template with a few that have requested it. Everyone that has received it has loved it!

If you would like a copy of the template please let me know and I can email it to you J

Gift Idea: Father's Day Gift

I find my dad is by far the most difficult person in my life to make or create a thoughtful gift for. I always have good intentions but usually end up buying him a DVD or something I know he actually wants. This year I am a bit more proud of myself and I actually have the creation of this blog to thank for the thought and effort I put into the gift. This blog is my way of being accountable with my gift giving and sort of forces me to make sure everyone has a gift from the heart.. even dad! Haha.

Firstly, I have to be honest I still purchased a trusty DVD for him, but I made a thoughtful accompanying gift to go with it. My dad loves beer, he loves it and would probably be happy if that was all I gave him. But I don’t want to do that, it feels weird and so impersonal.  So this year I combined his love of beer and his favourite foods to create the following masterpiece. In each bottle I have put some of his favourite snacks. I am actually excited to give him his gift this year and see his reaction!

Gift for a Teacher

I absolutely love this gift and look forward to having kids at school one day just so I can make it for their teachers. The reason I love this gift so much is because it was actually a gift given to me. I am a primary school teacher and in my first year of teaching I received this gift at the end of the year. It meant so much more to me than some of boxes of chocolates I was given. In saying that, obviously I appreciated the boxes of chocolates and did in no way expect any gifts. But I thought this was extremely special and meaningful as it was made specifically for me. This beautiful frame takes prime position on my desk and brings a smile to my face every time I look at it.

Anniversary Gift: Home is wherever I'm with you

This year my partner and I set a $10 limit on all of our gifts, so I had to get clever and creative in order to make something meaningful for him. We housesit so have lived in quite a few different places together and we love the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros song ‘Home’ so I combined the two to make the gift. I found a map, added the hearts and quote, put it in a frame and voila! I then had a fancy looking gift to admire and still had some money left to buy him some of his favourite treats! J
